The Rainbow Masjid Social Committee headed by Moulana Nazir Jassat hosted for the first time a Careers Day program on Saturday, September 20 at the LMA Nursery in Swan Street.
This was in line of the Social Responsibility of the Masjid to uplift the community including the youth and all within its borders of Rainbow Valley.
This careers day was held for some grade 10 and matriculants who still have not confirmed their career choices.
Amongst the speakers were the following, Dr Razia Hassan who studied medicine at MBBCh (Medical degree) at Wits University in 2002, Masters in Public Health at the University of Liverpool in 2012
Currently she researches as a Medical Officer at a research unit affiliated with Wits University based at Chris Hani Baragwanath Hospital. The unit conducts clinical trials for new vaccines as well surveillance of infectious disease. It is a paediatric tailored unit. Dr Fahima Soni, Currently a Community Service Doctor in Lenasia South Hospital who studied at Wits.
Salmah Motara – Former Lenz High Student, Now Senior Lecturer at WITS Education Faculty and has a Masters in Education, M/s Nazmeera Mahomed and Mohammed Saleh, both Qualified CA and Naeem Hoosen an Engineer.
And to round up the up speakers we had, M/s Rooksana Patel, Former Lenz High Student now Lecturer at MANCOSA and Lead Technical Partner at ABSA.she has over 15 years experience in the IT field with an a MBA
Learners benefitted from this program tremendously where some made their choices at that function.
